Gateway to the future

In September, smart device manufacturer HONOR unveiled ‘Gateway to the Future,’ an augmented reality (AR) installation. This initiative aims to enrich cultural heritage through AR experiences created by two global artists: Yunuene and Timo Helgert.
Both artists designed captivating AR experiences for the Wasserschloss building in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Their goal is to inspire people worldwide to reimagine cultural treasures within the metaverse.
Yunuene’s piece, titled ‘Sailing Through Time,’ invites viewers on a voyage that pays homage to the evolution of vessels that once sailed Hamburg’s waters.
The Gateway to the Future AR experience is available until the end of November 2022. Users can access it through the dedicated HONOR page on the free-to-download ARLOOPA app. Whether on-site in Hamburg or anywhere else in the world, art enthusiasts can explore these virtual artworks.
