«Through the Looking Glass» - Solo Show

THE GRADY ALEXIS GALLERY – NEW YORK
DEC 2015 / JAN 2016

New York, December 10, 2015 – Art is Alive at The Grady Alexis Gallery (at El Taller Latino Americano). 'Through the Looking Glass', an exhibition of mixed media works by the Mexican visual artist Yunuene, features her own app that shows how technology is now changing the way we make, see and experience art. The exhibition is on view from December 15, 2015 – January 27, 2016.

Yunuene Art App (free for download on Apple and GooglePlay), is a cleverly designed program that reads the works and makes them become multi-dimensional, technologically enhanced commentaries that give humor and pause.

Through the aid of a smartphone or tablet, viewers see colorful triangles shoot from the art or see works transform from grief, to a celebration of the hope of life after death – all with a soundtrack that completes her story.

It’s worth saying that the paintings, fiber and sculptural works are all well made as stand alone pieces; the smart phone / tablet app multiplies the fascination and the possibilities for seeing what the future marriage between 2D/3D art and technology can birth. Yunuene says: 'I’m giving a new, expanded experience for the viewer and trying to get him/her inside the world of the painting. It’s an art experience like no other. Everything comes alive'. Ultimately it’s a very cool twist for art lovers and technology nuts alike – it’s something very new!

Open daily from 09:00-20:00hrs
